Attendance

  • Attendance is taken for all classes.
  • Attendance is required for all 1000 and 2000 level classes.
  • Leaving early, without permission, counts as an absence.
  • 4+ absences in any level of class will result in a failing grade.
  • Not attending the class final will result in a full letter grade reduction.

Attendance will be taken at the beginning of every class period. If tardy it is the students' responsibility to inform the instructor before the end of that class period.

3 Tardies = 1 Absence

2 Absences Half Letter Grade Reduction (B to B-)
3 Absences Full Letter Grade Reduction (B to C)
4+ E

Deadlines

No late work will be accepted or critiqued. Be ready to present and/or turn in your work at the beginning of class. See syllabus schedule for project deadlines.

Critiques

You are required to attend all one-on-one and group critiques. During critiques you must show your work and participate in class discussion.

Resubmitting Projects

You can only resubmit one project per semester. Reworked projects will only be critiqued during office hours and must be resubmitted by the last day of class. Creative challenges and response papers cannot be repeated or resubmitted.

Final Exams

It is university policy that Final Exams are to be held the day and the hour they are scheduled on the Final Exam Schedule. No early exams will be given; reading and examination periods are firmly scheduled parts of the semester. Students should not make plans that interfere with these important academic activities. Not attending the class final will result in a full letter grade reduction.

Graduation Requirement: Portfolio Review

Consult with your academic advisor for details of deadlines and requirements to make certain all AVC degree graduation requirements are met, including the mandatory graduating student portfolio review.

Lab Fee Disclosure

The lab fee(s) required for this course pay for the hardware and software in this lab, as well as operating expenses and supplies. Your print card is also included in the fee.

Computer Misuse

Computer misuse during lectures, critiques or studio time will negatively influence your grade. Common forms of computer misuse are:

  1. Email Addiction
  2. Instant Messenging Addiction
  3. Facebook Addiction
  4. eBay Addiction
  5. Working on projects for other classes! If you are caught working on projects for another class during studio time your final grade will be reduced by a half letter grade (B to B-).
